What Remains
CMYK Print on Transparent Film
Kevin Murphy, 2025
This piece deconstructs a landscape image of the Rocky Mountains into its Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black color layers, each printed on transparent film. When stacked, these layers reconstruct a vivid and immersive, full color representation of the rockies. As viewers engage with the work, the physical removal of layers dissolves the landscape before their eyes. This symbolizes the gradual degradation of nature that has both occurred in the past, and may occur in the future due to diminishing federal support. What Remains encourages viewers to reflect on how vulnerable nature truly is and the consequences of neglect, using print and perception to show what’s at stake.
